Today i felt like it was time to get out on a little adventure, so after some research i found that i the Karlstejn castle was not that far from Prague.
It looked like a good one day adventure.
After some more scouting on Google maps i found a place called Velká Amerika or “Czech Grand Canyon”. It’s a old lime stone mine close to the Karlstejn castle.
So packed enough to last me a day (few Liters of water and some basics) and set off!

What is a adventure without at least a dirt road?
Czech Republic is crawling with dirt roads and you are pretty much free to go wherever you like.
From the spot i took the photo there where only 100-150m until i reached the parking for Velka Amerika.

After spending some time at Velka Amerika i jumped back in Jumbo and continued on to Karlstejn castle. i had found a trail on google maps that should have lead to the castle. But it must have been very old, it quickly became overgrown and the forest to dens to traverse with a big Jeep. At least i had some off road fun before turning back and went the the “normal” way there instead.

The parking for the castle is a bit off, it’s in the town of Karlstejn. The castle is located on top of a hill. So there were some walking to get to it. But worth it!
It was absolutely beautiful!
